The stations are confirmed and the DJs are confirmed. The famous people behind the DJ names are a different claim with a different source.
Who are the GTA 6 radio hosts?
Rockstar has published on-air names rather than real ones. The six stations are Flash FM, Back Country Radio, Cocoteo FM, The Chamber, AfroBank FM and Dirty South Classics, and the DJ names attached to them include El Martillo, Delta Dawne, MW, DJ Kerry and DJ Tom. The celebrity identifications in every headline, Bad Bunny, Lana Del Rey, Morgan Wallen, Burna Boy and members of Slayer among them, come from the press and the community matching voices and on-air names to real artists, not from anything Rockstar printed. Some of those matches are stronger than others. One is effectively settled for a reason most coverage skipped: Rockstar already published Morgan Wallen's name itself, on the album track list in September, which makes MW on a country station the best evidenced of the set.
What Rockstar actually wrote
Six stations with genres attached: pop on Flash FM, classic country and outlaw tracks on Back Country Radio, modern Latin on Cocoteo FM, hard rock and speed metal on The Chamber, amapiano and African music on AfroBank FM, and regional hip hop classics on Dirty South Classics. Previews are listenable, with snippets of DJ voices and song fragments.
What it did not write is a single real name next to a station. The DJs exist as characters, which is how GTA has always handled radio, and that choice is the reason this story has two tiers rather than one.
Where the famous names came from
Not from Rockstar. The celebrity list spread through coverage that credited a community account's compilation, matching on-air names and voices to real artists. One large outlet ran the real names in an embedded post while its own text used only the DJ names. Another named the stations and no hosts at all.
That is not a criticism of the matches, several of which are probably right. It is a point about what the word confirmed is doing when a headline puts a famous name on a station Rockstar described with an alias.
The one identification that is solid
MW on Back Country Radio. Rockstar published Morgan Wallen's name itself in September, on the track list for the album, so the artist's involvement with the game is not in question. An initials-based DJ name on the country station, from an artist Rockstar has already named, is a much shorter leap than any of the others.
That is still an inference rather than a Rockstar statement, and it is the only one of the set where the real name already appears somewhere official.
The stations worth noticing
Back Country Radio comes with Delta Dawne and a roving reporter described as a swamp meteorologist, which is the most Rockstar detail in the whole announcement and the one that suggests the station has characters rather than just a playlist.
The Chamber is a metal station that actually plays metal, including a Slayer track in the previews, which is a different thing from a metal station that plays rock radio staples. And Flash FM returns from the original Vice City, which is the one piece of continuity in the list that needs no explanation to anyone who played the 2002 game.
Radio off the car stereo
The announcement covers listening on foot, with headphones and earbuds, and on-demand podcasts, which would be a first for the series. Radio in GTA has always been something you hear in a vehicle, and detaching it from the car changes where the writing can go.
What that means in practice is unknown. Podcasts could be a handful of segments or something substantial, and nobody outside Rockstar has heard one.
What is still missing, and two corrections
No classic rock station and no talk radio have been named. Both have been fixtures of the series, and GTA 5 shipped with fifteen music stations and two talk stations in 2013, so six is a partial reveal rather than the full lineup. Coverage claiming only six stations exist is reading a reveal as a total.
Two corrections to an earlier video on this site. The prediction that the station list would land around the end of October was three weeks early. And the claim that Jason wears a V-Rock t-shirt in the trailer footage could not be confirmed on a re-check: the shirt was not found. Both are corrected here rather than quietly edited in the older piece.
What the video covers
- All six stations and their genres, from Rockstar's own announcement
- The on-air DJ names Rockstar published, and where the celebrity names came from
- Why MW on the country station is the best evidenced identification
- Podcasts and listening on foot, a first for the series
- The station types still missing, and two corrections to an earlier video
What we do not know yet
- Which real artists are behind most of the on-air names
- How many stations exist in total
- What the podcasts actually contain

Evidence tier for the six stations, their genres and the on-air DJ names: confirmed, from Rockstar's own announcement. For the celebrity identifications: reported, matched by press and community rather than published by Rockstar. For Morgan Wallen's involvement: confirmed from the album track list, with the station link an inference. The full station count is unknown. See how this site grades evidence.
