The Hidden City Rockstar Didn't Want You To Find

9:45 Capri · Leonida regions · mapping By Updated

A studio that wanted you to know about a seventh region would have given it a page, the way it did for the other six. It put the name on a sign and kept driving.

Is Capri a confirmed city in GTA 6?

No. The name is confirmed, the city is not, and the difference is the whole story. Rockstar's Extended Look shows an Interstate 404 sign reading Capri, on the same board as a county name, and anyone can pause the frame and read it. That is as far as Rockstar has gone. The official GTA VI website names six regions of Leonida: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. That list has not changed since the pages went up in May 2025, Capri is not on it, Capri is not in any screenshot batch, and Rockstar has never said the word anywhere that can be found. Until the official site says seven, the count is six. The detailed city with streets, a police department and a football team is the community's reconstruction, and the people who built it say so on their own page.

What Rockstar actually did with the name

The Extended Look ran 26 minutes and 56 seconds, premiered on Netflix on 27 August, and never once opened the map. What it did instead was drive past things, and at roughly the eleven and a half minute mark a highway sign goes by with Capri on it. No caption, no follow-up screenshot, no mention since.

That would be a footnote if Rockstar's own list were not so short. Six regions, six pages, six paragraphs, unchanged for sixteen months. A name on set dressing is a name, not an introduction, and that distinction is doing all the work here.

Who built the city everyone is describing

The community, and the community said so first. Earlier this month the GTA Wiki account described Capri as a new city mentioned on a highway sign, known by its affiliated mapping project to be based on Naples, Florida, and one of the major areas in the game, while admitting in the same post that it had not appeared in any screenshot or trailer.

A mapper who worked on that project then published a video calling it the new major city of GTA 6, which has since passed roughly 180,000 views and is where most of this week's coverage got its material. His Capri stitches three real Florida towns together: the waterfront and pier from Naples, the central roundabout, stadium and police department from Sebring, and the lakeside high rises from Lakeland. He measures it at about one square kilometre and gives it a team called the Capri City Jackals.

Where that reconstruction comes from, in their own words

By the mapper's own account, most of it comes from the leaked map and a leaked driving clip, with the trailers filling gaps. The wiki's Capri page carries a warning that it may contain sensitive leaked content which may or may not appear in the final game.

That is the mapping community grading itself, and it graded honestly. No leaked footage is shown or linked here, and none is needed to place the tier: the name is Rockstar's, and the city is a reconstruction from material Rockstar never released, by people who told you exactly that.

The correction that makes them worth reading

The original post said Capri had not been in any trailer. Within days the wiki's own page said the opposite: that the city seemingly first appears in the first trailer, at around the fifty second mark, in a shot of a green pickup with two buildings behind it. The mapper names them as the Terrace Hotel and the Lake Mirror Tower, both real buildings in downtown Lakeland.

The correction came from the same people who made the original claim, which is why this material is treated as reported rather than dismissed as noise. It also means Rockstar has been showing Capri since December 2023 without ever saying the name.

Rockstar has done this before, and the gap was years

Port Gellhorn first appeared on the side of a police car in the September 2022 leak. Rockstar did not put the name on its website until May 2025, when the second trailer landed and the six region pages went up. Ambrosia arrived in the same batch, alongside Mount Kalaga National Park and the Grassrivers.

Rockstar knew those names the whole time. It just did not say them until a page was ready. From here, the Capri sign looks like exactly that: a name already in the footage twice and not yet in the press kit. The silence tells you the page is not ready and not much else.

Why the word confirmed is doing work the sign cannot

Several videos this week said Rockstar had just confirmed a hidden city, or called Capri the seventh city, while another argued the opposite. Confirmed means Rockstar said it, and Rockstar's list still says six. Hidden is a strange word for a sign facing the camera in the studio's own marketing film. And a claim that almost nobody caught it is hard to square with a wiki post and a video with 180,000 views.

Meanwhile a large games site published a rundown of every new location shown in the Extended Look and left out the only new location with a name attached. So the press skipped it in the same week the thumbnails inflated it. The true version is smaller and better: Rockstar put a seventh place name into official footage, the community worked out which real towns it is built from, and the studio has said nothing since.

What happens between now and launch

The pattern says a page eventually arrives. Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia sat in leaks and trailers for years, then turned up together in one drop with paragraphs written for them. If Capri gets the same treatment it will appear in a screenshot batch with a description and a county name, and the community map will be checked against it inside an afternoon.

It might not happen before launch. Rockstar published the six regions sixteen months out and has not added one since, so there is a version of this where the seventh name is something you learn by driving past the sign yourself on day one. The lean, flagged as a mild one, is that the site updates before 19 November. The count does not move until it does.

What the video covers

  • The sign itself, and where to find it in the Extended Look
  • The six regions Rockstar's site actually lists, and what is missing from it
  • The three real Florida towns the community map is built from
  • The wiki's own correction about the first trailer, and why it matters
  • The Port Gellhorn precedent, named on Rockstar's site years after it was shown

What we do not know yet

  • Whether Rockstar names Capri before launch, or at all
  • Whether the community's size and layout match the final game
  • Which county Capri belongs to, since only the sign names anything

Sources

Evidence tier for the name appearing on a sign in official footage: confirmed, visible in the Extended Look. For Capri being a seventh region or major city: not established, and absent from Rockstar's own list. For the reconstructed city, its layout and its size: reported from the mapping community, which states plainly that most of the material came from leaked sources. The expectation that Rockstar names it before launch is a lean. No leaked footage is shown or linked. See how this site grades evidence.
